The Managing Director, Agency Services is responsible for leading the strategic, operational, financial, and human capital aspects of GuideStone’s insurance agency business solutions. This role is responsible for driving significant growth, profitability and innovation by providing leadership and direction of all property & casualty business and brokered solutions.
What You'll Do
Strategic Planning:
Drive the development and execution of strategic initiatives to enhance market positioning, profitability, and sustainable growth
Identify new opportunities for growth and expansion in the insurance market and agency services sector
Collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to drive business development initiatives and achieve revenue targets
Operational / Financial Management:
Oversee all aspects of agency services operations and broker solutions development
Monitor key performance metrics and develop strategies to optimize processes and improve efficiency for customer satisfaction
Oversee financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and expense management, to ensure profitability and sustainability
Evaluate investment opportunities and risk exposures to optimize financial outcomes
Leadership and Talent Development:
Lead and manage a team of insurance and product professionals, providing guidance, support, and mentorship
Fulfill GuideStone’s ministry assignment while operating with best business practices
Develop strong internal relationships within the organization across all businesses and functions
Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team
Set clear goals and objectives for team members and provide regular feedback and performance evaluations
Business Development:
Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to identify and pursue new business opportunities with agency services clients
Participate in client meetings, presentations, and negotiations to win new business and expand existing relationships
Stay informed about industry trends, competitive developments, and client needs to drive business growth
Embrace and leverage technology to enhance operational efficiency, customer experience, and data analytics within the insurance agency
Risk Management / Compliance:
Ensure that agency operations comply with all relevant regulations and industry standards, including licensing, reporting, and data privacy requirements
Evaluate and recommend risk management strategies to mitigate potential losses and protect the financial health of ministry partners and GuideStone as an enterprise
Stay informed about changes in regulatory requirements and industry best practices and update policies and procedures accordingly
Work closely with legal and compliance teams to mitigate regulatory risks
Management:
Responsible for full scope of supervision including reviewing performance of Agency leadership.
This position has direct supervisory responsibilities for P&C sales and relationship management, agency services, and broker solutions.
What You'll Need
Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or related field or equivalent work experience.
Masters degree, preferred.
Proven experience in a senior leadership role within an agency or client-facing function
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients and internal teams
Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams
Strategic thinker with a track record of driving business growth and achieving results
Highly organized with strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
Ability to develop sales strategies and tactics to support annual sales goals as set forth by management.
Extensive knowledge of the P&C industry, including funding options, state regulations, federal programs, not-for-profit regulations, tax rules for church-based businesses, and the competitive environment relative to GuideStone products.
Extensive knowledge of GuideStone P&C and insurance options including all products offered, how they operate, the strengths and weaknesses of each, and how they relate to competitors’ products and services.
Excellent public speaking/presentation skills.
Excellent sales skills that can be documented through review of outside sales and retention success.
Ability to align processes, people and technology to build consistent production in a sales environment.
Ability to establish priorities for multiple tasks.
A working knowledge of SBC polity, philosophy and history.
Total dedication to customer excellence in service.
Proficient skills in MS Office and appropriate GuideStone system applications.
Must have complete confidentiality regarding GuideStone business matters.
Travel is required up to 20% annually.
