Description
The Senior Accountant serves as a member of the Living on the Edge team and reports to the Director of Finance and HR. This position serves to provide an accurate financial picture to management for decision-making. It does not function as a CFO with enforcement responsibilities. This position puts a high priority on ensuring accuracy at the speed of the ministry. It involves:
- Manages the day-to-day normal functions of accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and treasury management (payee positive pay)
- Month end closing procedures
- Weekly and monthly financial statement preparation, including P&L, balance sheet, budget vs. actual, bank balance statements and reconciliation and cash flow forecasting.
- Initiates and records wires to international vendors
- Keeps detailed records of donor-designated funds
- Maintains relationships with governmental regulatory agencies as required
- Governmental reporting and compliance; including payroll tax and sales tax.
- Is the back-up to the Director Finance and HR to prepare payroll, W-2’s.
- Is the back-up to Financial Coordinator to web donation processing
- Audit preparation and assistance to audit firm, 990 and ECFA certification
- Budget formation and reporting
- Monitor inventory and cost of goods sold
- Cost analysis
- Process 1099’s
- Other operational responsibilities requested by the Director of Finance and HR.
Requirement

- Education: 5+ years’ experience in accounting/bookkeeping is required with a Bachelor’s degree. Prior experience in a Christian ministry setting (501c3 or church) is preferred.
- Technology: Proficient Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.) and QuickBooks; ability to understand and utilize multi-functional customer/donor databases. In general, a high technology IQ to leverage it to improve work flow and efficiency.
- Diligence: This position is a “get your fingers dirty” role; meaning there is no delegation; this position must fulfill all of the functions listed without other assistance.
- Organized: Competency in managing multiple projects simultaneously. Very detailed, thorough, accurate, organized and productive. Ability to work independently, self-assigning and self-monitoring. Excellent communication and organization skills. Fast learner; relational, creative, resourceful. Ability to strategize and problem solve.
- Location: Must reside within reasonable travel distance from Living on the Edge’s Duluth, Georgia office. This is an in office job.
